Ocean Park Hong Kong food made a big improvement. That's for sure.
Tuxedo Restaurant
Dining in Ocean Park in the Past
Throughout my life, we never stopped at any restaurant or fast food (coming soon - link to Hong Kong Fast Food page) shop within Ocean Park. Because the price was crazily expensive. And the quality was just ok or below the standard most of the time.
Back then, there were a few fast food shops, serving Hong Kong street food (coming soon - link to Hong Kong Street Food page) and fast food. Even McDonald's in the Ocean Park Hong Kong charged double of the regular price.
Brand New Experience
But our trip in Oct 2012 totally changed my impression of Ocean Park Hong Kong food.
We went to the Tuxedo Restaurant in the Polar Adventure area.
As
soon as you stepped into the restaurant, it feels like you teleport to
an igloo, not because of the temperature, but the renovation and the
atmosphere. It's pretty awesome.
Inside the Tuxedo Restaurant, Ocean Park Hong Kong. See the big glass window? That's where you can see all the activities of the cute little penguins
It is next to the "South Pole Spectacular" (coming soon - link to Ocean Park Hong Kong Attractions page) where the penguins are. It is just separated by a piece of glass (a very thick piece of glass; you will know what it means if you go to the theme park and see it).
You can see the feeding of the penguins and their activities, especially jumping into the water and swim. My son was so excited to stand next to the glass watching the penguins. If he got to stand there for a whole day, I don't think he would mind it at all.
The dishes, presentations, quality of food and services are marvelous. I don't think I can complain at all. When we were there, it was very close to Halloween. Many wait staffs put on the Halloween make-up. However, most of the dishes did not go with the Halloween theme like in Hong Kong Disneyland.
Among all the dishes we had in this restaurant. I love this the most. It's crispy bean curd roll stuffed with vegetables and topped with diced tomatoes. It was SURPRISINGLY GOOD.
Fettuccine with crispy bacon pieces. In the middle of it, there are several seared scallops
Overall Impression of Ocean Park Hong Kong Food
The meal was as expensive as the dinner we had in Disneyland. In my opinion, it is worth every penny.
To sum up my latest experience of Ocean Park Hong Kong food, this is what I would say.
Price range - much wider and user-friendly.
Varieties - from gourmet fast food to dine-in
Quality - above standard
Environment - UNIQUE
Close contact with the ocean animals...Yes, you can do it in one of the World's Best Theme Park, Ocean Park Hong Kong. Those 2 people in blue are the trainers. Those in white are visitors paid several thousand Hong Kong dollar to get this close to these animals.
This is just one of the restaurants that time was allowed for us to try
out the Ocean Park Hong Kong food. Feel free to check out others in this
theme park. A few of them locate next to the attraction like this one
where you can enjoy the view of the ocean creatures.
If you decide to dine in one of the restaurants in the theme park, a good planner will be needed so that you won't waste too much time to wait for your table. Many of them take reservations.
If
time is allowed, make sure to stop by some kiosks in the "Old Hong
Kong" (coming soon - link to Ocean Park Hong Kong Attractions page)
where you can try some Hong Kong street food (coming soon - link to Hong
Kong Street Food page) because a lot of them don't exist any more.
